Violin

With over twenty years of classical training and orchestral/recital performances under his belt at only twenty three years old, Violin Virtuoso, Asher Laub fits right in with the rest of Cal's core band of remarkable instrumental soloists.

His expertise in jazz/rock improvisation has led to a career as a soloist in demand that frequently takes him across the country performing in such venues as Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Hall, Central Park and the Jacob Javitz Center in front of thousands.

Proficient on the Piano, Drums, Guitar and Mandolin, Asher's experience composing rock, jazz and classical music have helped him in his unique ability to incorporate the violin into any given genre of music.

"When I first met Asher, I had seen his resume but knew nothing about him personally. When he showed up for his audition, I was suprised to see this young man walk in. I was completely taken by surprise. With the experience he had I was expecting someone much older.

Rosemary, my coordinator, had sent him "Desert Dance" to prepare for the audition. This piece features violin and guitar. I had always envisioned someone really tearing into the piece on violin as it has a fun rhythm that is just perfect for soloing. Apparently, Rosemary had told Asher nothing about what I was looking for in the performance and decided to let him just "go" with what he was feeling. Obviously a wise decision...he not only tore into it, he "shredded" it! He is an incredible talent, truly gifted and a pleasure to work with ."
